Abstract

This report describes the contribution of the German participant, the Fraunhofer Institut fuer Systemtechnik und Innovationsforschung, of the European Modelling Group for Solar Heating Systems and Domestic Hot Water in the years 1980 and 1981. The main purpose during this period was to validate simulation models with experimental data from Solar Pilot Test Facilities. Calculations with 5-minute steps, as well as with hourly means of the same data, gave very good results compared with experimental data. The validation method led to the detection of erroneous system parameters, i.e. the efficiency of the heat exchanger, specified by the producer as 0.44, turned out to be 0.32.
