Kurzbeschreibung

The feasibility study of the mine Konrad for the final disposal of LLW and decommissioning waste from nuclear power stations terminated in 1982 with the compilation of a final report and proved both the suitability of the mine for such final disposal and the safety of the disposal operations. In 1982 the meteorological and geoscientific long-term measurements were continued. Further investigations concerned safety aspects, site specific data (e.g. near surface hydrogeological conditions). For the purpose of future basic geoscientific research in the Konrad mine, an extensive R&D programme was developed with which a.o. questions of radionuclide migration and radionuclide retention at final disposal of radioactive wastes in partly fractured solid rock is to be investigated. Findings discussed in this study concern: petrographical and geochemical investigations, hydrogeological and hydrochemical investigations, rock mechanical investigations, seismic investigations and filtometer measurements, rock mechanical and technical disposal investigations, investigation of waste products and radiological investigations.
