A NEW FUTURE FOR THE HIGH FLUX REACTOR
The reactor vessel replacement in 1984 and the connected adaptation and renewal of irradiation equipment will provide the technical basis for a new utilization period of the HFR Petten. Used to practially 100 % of its capacity the present plant still appears to be particularly well suited for all experimental needs. It is vital, however, to anticipate aging of the installation, under the aspects of both its technical status and its usefulness for scientific and technical research. In this article the two points will be examined, together with the vessel replacement which will, in both areas, open a new future for the reactor.
