Abstract

Since high purity and quality monocrystals of uranium compounds are available, considerable progress in solid state physics of this element has been performed. In order to allow progress extension to other elements of this actinide series, a monocrystal preparation program of metals and compounds (dioxides, pnictides, intermetallics) has been undertaken at E.T.I. Up to now involved crystal growth methods are gas phase chemical transport, crystallization from molten salts solutions, solid state recrystallization (mineralization), Czochralski procedure from molten compounds.
