RESEARCH AND TRAINING PROGRAMME IN BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING. CATALOGUE OF CONTRACTS WITH CLASSIFICATION OF ACTIVITIES
The catalogue of contracts (Phases 1 and 2) summarizes the situation of the biomolecular engineering programme after its revision, which led on 26 October 1983 to the adoption by the Council of a second phase to be implemented from January 1984 to March 1986. This catalogue presents the complete list of 103 research contracts concluded between the Commission of the European Communities and national institutions (public or private) in the field of enzyme or genetic engineering. Fiftyone cost shared contracts had been signed in the framework of the first phase, running to 1985 or 1986 withdurations of 24-40 months. To these must be added the 52 contracts which were signed this year at the outset of the second phase of the programme. Their duration has been fixed at 24 months. For the convenience of the reader, all cost shared research contracts are briefly listed and classified in this catalogue. In parallel to research actions, training actions covering all areas of biomolecular engineering as well as the improvement of risk assessment methods in biotechnology, are essentially implemented through training contracts. These contracts are based upon tripartite arrangements between the Commission, the trainees and the host laboratories. The present catalogue also provides, together with a short definition of the work executed by the trainees, a list of the training contracts now being implemented.
