PULSED MICROCHANNEL PLATE MOUNTING FOR SUBNANOSECOND X-RAY IMAGE INTENSIFIERS
The electrical and mechanical set-up for the pulsed gating of a microchannel plate (MCP) operating in the subnanosecond range is presented. Shaping of the plate electrodes as conductors of a strip transmission line allows voltage pulses of duration down to 400 ps to be propagated with negligible attenuation. This MCP mounting will be used as an X-ray image intensifier with very high time and space resolutions.
