MODEL FOR LASER FUSION SHELL TARGET PERFORMANCE EVALUATION AND 1-D NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THERMONUCLEAR TARGETS
A model for the evaluation of the performances of laser fusion (single and double) shell targets irradiated by moderate energy, unshaped laser pulses is illustrated. The existence of a narrow window in the relevant design parameter space (fuel mass and aspect- ratio, laser intensity and wavelength), which allows for gain G > 200, is revealed and confirmed by preliminary 1-D numerical simulations.
