RECENT DEVELOPMENT OF CEC'S ELASTO-PLASTIC CREEP CYCLIC BENCHMARK PROGRAMME, RELEVANT TO LMFBR STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
The paper outlines the principal inelastic benchmark calculations relevant to LMFBR which are currently under way with the financial and coordinative support of the Commission of the European Communities (CEC). A structural analysis group set up by the CEC through the Working Group Codes and Standards of a Fast Reactor Coordinating Committee decided to go through a very detailed programme in order to provide new analytical tools for the realistic prediction of the inelastic behaviour of LMFBR structural components. A series of four sequential and progressive computation steps were then defined to solve the problem of verification and qualification of the various structural analysis systems. The paper presents the concluding remarks of the first step of the benchmark programme and describes the main features of the second step, which regards the validation of computer programs by comparison of results with experiments.
