EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ON THE USE OF A RELATIVELY LARGE NUMBER OF GERMANIUM AND CARBON GLASS RESISTORS AS CRYOGENIC THERMOMETERS
More than two dozen carbon glass resistors (C.G.R.) have been calibrated in the range 4 - 8 K. The reference thermometers used in the calibration facility and the C.G.R. sensors are from Lake-Shore. A temperature cycling dependent difference between some Ge thermometers has been noted and will be shortly discussed in the text. The C.G.R. have been calibrated by the use of a homemade calibration facility that will also be dealt with in this paper. Many of these C.G.R. have been installed in the SULTAN plant and have given reliable measurement data. Others are being used in the laboratory and their calibration will be periodically repeated for estimation of the long-term repeatability of this type of sensors.
