THE USE OF THE THERMAL LENS EFFECT FOR ENHANCEMENT OF SENSITIVITY IN MOLECULAR ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE USE OF A PULSED DYE LASER AS SOURCE
A review of the literature on the thermal lens effect is presented. The results of theoretical treatment of the effect is given, and its significance on analytical applications discussed. Considerable enhancement of the sensitivity over conventional spectrophotometry is possible. Special attention was given to heating by a pulsed laser, showing that this method has considerable potential.
