SODIUM TWO-PHASE FLOW PRESSURE DROP AND HEAT TRANSFER IN GRID SPACED BUNDLES
One and two-phase heat transfer and pressure drop of steady state forced convection flow sodium were calculated from thermal measurements for a twelve rod bundle test section. The heat flux ranged from 8 W/cm**2 to 159 W/cm**2 and the mass flow from 0,005 to 15 1/s. The heat transfer was calculated from the measured temperature in the liquid and in the rod. For the calculation of the heat transfer, different corrections and adjustments were necessary. Comparison was made with published heat transfer correlations for rod bundles. The one and two-phase flow pressure drop was measured and compared with correlations developed from measurements in simple geometry and the measuring results of the tests performed with water in a test section of identical geometry.
