PASSIVE DOWNWARD TRANSPORT OF SOLAR HEAT FROM A COLLECTOR TO A HEAT STORAGE MEDIUM. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OF A PROTOTYPE
Based on the previous results obtained with a laboratory device and with a technical unit, a circuit composed of a thermal collector (2.7 m**2), the system for the passive downward heat transport and a heat exchanger has been built and tested. The vertical distance between the thermal collector and the heat exchanger is of 8.5 m. The collector works with a two-phase fluid, at moderate pressure (less than 10 bar) and does not require pumps or other energy sources for circulating the heat carrier fluid. The system worked very well and with a very high efficiency. Results are reported on the quantitative measurements made with this circuit.
