LIQUID METALS IN FUSION POWER REACTORS
Lithium bearing liquid metals are candidate materials as tritium breeders in fusion power reactors. Today lithium metal and the eutectic Li-17Pb-83 appear as the most attractive for this purpose. The paper reviews the data base available for these materials and presents the various parameters. The advantages and key problems of using the same liquid metals also for blanket cooling are discussed and compared to other types of cooling (helium, water).
