RECENT ADVANCES IN COMPUTATIONAL METHODS FOR STEADY AND TRANSIENT TRANSPORT PROBLEMS
A survey has been made of some recent developments in computational methods for steady and transient problems describing convection and diffusion. The emphasis is placed on the use of finite element methods since this is an area where many recent developments have taken place. Various generalizations of the standard Galerkin formulation are considered which enable it to deal successfully with convection dominated transport processes. These include both Petrov-Galerkin and Taylor-Galerkin methods.
