BATCH DESIGNATION AND BATCH FOLLOW-UP IN EURATOM SAFEGUARDS
The idea of each batch of nuclear material (treated as a unit for accountancy and control purposes) in any installation having a unique designation seems very logical and transparent, but the associated idea of "batch follow-up" has not been well defined and in consequence has become misunderstood. This paper discusses the policy of Euratom in this area, and the practical implications for the operator in terms of record keeping and reporting.
