EUROCODE NO. 1 - COMMON UNIFIED RULES FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIAL
EUROCODE (EC) No. 1 provides a common basis for preparing codes for the design and execution of buildings and civil engineering structures. It aims at ensuring an adequate and appropriate treatment of safety, serviceability and durability, whatever the material or type of construction. It does not cover complete special structures such as dams, nuclear power stations or marine platforms. This Eurocode No. 1 is not intended for direct use in the design of particular structures Eurocode No. 2-7, based upon Eurocode No. 1, will fulfill that function. In the drafting of Eurocodes 2-7, particularly where reference to other documents is made, the principles laid down in Eurocode 1 should be followed. The same principles + possibly supplemented + may be applied when new types of structure, new structural uses for established materials are being envisaged, or where actions or influences outside normal experiences have to be resisted by structures.
