NEUTRON PENETRATION IN SODIUM AT EURACOS II
Measurements of neutron penetration in large block of sodium installed at the EURACOS facility are reported. The experimental facility consists of seven iron canned sodium boxes filling the whole 400 cm long irradiation tunnel. The major part of the sodium assembly placed in front of a disk shaped 235-U converter plate of 80 cm radius has a 202x158 cm**2 cross section. Results are reported for a series of 32-S(n,p)32-P activation measurements along the central axis reaching penetration depths up to 362 cm. Applying a sophisticated sulphur burning technique attenuation factors of 10**-7 could be reached.
