Abstract

Edge effects during ICRF heating experiments are reviewed experimentally. It is demonstrated that an r.f. mechanism occurring in the scrape off layer is responsible for the local electron temperature and density increase. We show that the experimental observations cannot be explained by simple linear r.f. mechanisms occurring at the edge of the plasma.
