Abstract

The equilibrium H-2 = 2H (dissolved) in a liquid Li-17Pb-83 alloy was studied at various temperatures in order to obtain the thermodynamic data required for the use of the alloy as a blanket material of fusion reactors. It is found that the system Li-17Pb-83 - H is characterized by a very small value of the X-H/P-H2**1/2 ratio at infinite dilution and by strong deviations from the ideal behavior as the concentration of hydrogen rises in the alloy. An empirical equation, which correlates the activity coefficients and the concentration of hydrogen in the alloy, is proposed.
