SUBSTITUTIVE LEAKS OF POROUS TUBES OF GRAPHITE
For experiments in the field of reactor safety, the gas flow through porous graphite tubes, exposed to pressure transients, was determined. The experimental method and results on three test samples of different surface treatment, are described. A method has been developed, that allows to determine the area A of a single aperture which, in calculations, may substitute the sum of all microapertures in walls made of porous material, through which gas leakage occurs. The method may be applied in all cases where gas flow through porous walls is of interest.
