Abstract

The IAEM-AGM was concerned with (a) the status of the standard cross-sections in their respective neutron energy ranges of application as well as with the ways of using them in the actual detector systems. These cross-sections are H(n,n)H (1 keV to 20 MeV), 6-Li(n,t)4-He (thermal to 0.1 MeV), 10-B(n,alpha-1)7-Li and 10-B(n,alpha-0 + + alpha-1)7-Li (thermal to 0.2 MeV), C(n,n) (1 keV to 1.8 MeV), 197-Au(n,gamma)198-Au (0.2 MeV to 3.5 MeV), 235-U(n,f) FF (0.1 MeV to 20 MeV) and the 235-U FF anisotropies, 238-U(n,f) F.F. (threshold to 20 MeV), 27-Al(n,alpha)24-Na (threshold to 20 MeV); (b) Other important standard data: neutron energy standards; actinide half-lifes; thermal parameters for 233-U, 235-U, 239-Pu, 241-Pu; nu of 252-Cf and the prompt fission neutron spectrum of 252-Cf; decay data for radionuclides used as calibration standards. Also neutron fluence intercomparisons were discussed. Working group sections dealt with (1) evaluation, documentation and presentation of reference data and related measurement requirements; (2) Should new standards be introduced? (3) improvements in detectors and measuring techniques leading to more accurate determination and use of standards. Highlights, conclusions and recommendations will be summarized.
