THE SIMULATION AS A METHOD FOR THE OPTIMIZATION OF THE ULTRASONIC TESTING CONDITIONS
The aim of this work is to optimize the ultrasonic system that is to say : to select the transducer with its cable and to set the generator and the receiver for the best testing conditions, which depend on the specific case of testing (high sensitivity, high resolution or good compromise between the two). It has been divided into two parts. The first part consists in the development of a model of the ultrasonic equipment in order to simulate its behaviour in each possible testing condition. The second part concerns the model of the propagation through a medium characterized by the material, the geometric shapes and by the defects to be detected and sized. Here, the authors present the first part considered as a high level characterization of ultrasonic equipment. The second part will be presented in a later publication.
