Abstract

Transit control as performed by Euratom Safeguards Directorate has been computer assisted for more than 15 years. After the entry into force of the Regulation 3227/76 reporting system, the previously developed computer algorithms had to be modified. Based on six years' experience with this computer application, an entirely new one was developed during 1983 and put into production in early 1984. The paper describes the main algorithms used in this application and how the application operates in practice on live data in interaction with the computer user. Furthermore the paper reports on the experience gained during the application's first year of operation.
