Abstract

This paper is subdivided into 3 parts : 1. Summary of INTOR Phase IIA design requirements Dose limits requirements of the European regulations are given and values applicable to INTOR are proposed. 2. Safety and Environmental Data Base The main source of risks and the applicable safety criteria are presented. Information is given on present results of fusion safety related studies/experiments. 3. R&D Programmes The actual fusion safety programme and test facilities in Europe are presented. Impact of recent results of safety studies as well as the required new research are discussed.
