NEUTRON INDUCED FISSION CROSS SECTION OF 243-AM FROM 1 TO 4 MEV
The fission cross section of 243-Am was measured in the neutron energy range from 1 eV to 4 MeV. Several methods of neutron production were employed using the Van-der-Graaf and the electron linear accelerator of CBNM. The energy averaged fission cross section measured at GELINA and the fission cross sections measured at the Van-der-Graaf above 350 keV were determined relative to the 235-U(n,f) cross section. The detailed neutron cross sections measured at GELINA in the range 1 eV to 30 keV were measured relative to the 6-Li(n,t)4He cross-section shape and were normalized between 7.8 eV and 11 eV to the known resonance fission integral of 235-U. The present data provide unique new information between 1 eV and 50 eV. Fission areas from 31 resonances were determined.
