A DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF THE ISOTOPIC LEAD EXPERIMENT RESULT
This report is an appendix to the Isotopic Lead Experiment (ILE) Status Report (EUR 8352 EN), issued in July, 1982. It studies by mathematical modelling the dynamical evolution of the blood lead isotopic ratio (206-Pb/207-Pb) of the three groups of subjects referred to in the ILE Report as follow-up subjects, compares this with the experimental evolutions and thereby tries to ascertain whether an analysis of all the blood lead isotopic ratio data covering the 1975 - 1979 ILE period could support the fractions of petrol lead impacting on blood estimated in the ILE Report. It was found that many approximations and assumptions were required in the mathematical modelling to bring the task undertaken to an end. Therefore the model cannot conclusively support the ILE Report findings, but it shows that whenever the approximations and assumptions are at least plausible if not entirely proved, these findings are never contradicted, but are, rather, in reasonable agreement with the model data.
