VICIA FABA - AGRONOMY, PHYSIOLOGY AND BREEDING
This volume contains the proceedings of a seminar held at the University of Nottingham, 14-16 September 1983; it is the 4th major publication on Vicia faba reporting proceedings on seminars organised through the Commission of the European Communities in the context of the E.E.C. Common Research Programme on Plant Protein Improvement. 4 sessions, the papers presented under headings: "physiology and agronomy"; "breeding and cytogenetics"; "nutrition and quality"; and lastly: "conclusions" with contributions on cytogenetics and on V. faba bean research in Europe; the priority research list recommended in this last paper was largely adopted in the final discussion: the setting-up of cooperative breeding programmes between E.E.C. countries; linking of this programme to whole crop and plant physiological work carried out on new types and varieties, making of a further link on the agronomy of these varieties (irrigation, water use, water stress studies); integrating with pest and disease control; assessing the quality in relation to utilization within these programmes.
