This volume contains the proceedings of the symposium held by the CEC, Directorate-General "Information Market and Innovation" at Luxembourg, 23rd to 25th November 1983. Its aim was to examine the pre-requisites for meeting the demands for venture capital funds on the capital markets, to perfect the instruments for collecting capital and to adapt these to the tasks awaiting them. The papers presented were grouped under headings: Non-banking venture capital investors; taxation and innovation financing; European secondary share markets (sections I III); section IV contained the reports of eight parallel working groups on: Developing venture capital exit mechanisms at an EC level (1); improving the capital environment affecting VC investments (2); stock options for managers in companies with growth potential; mobilizing non-banking VC investors on EC level (6 and 3); governmental schemes stimulating the VC markets (5); VC through collective investment (7); Venture Capital management (8).
