INSULATION MATERIALS FOR BUILDINGS, WITH GOOD FIRE RESISTANCE, BASED ON NOVOLAQUE TYPE PHENOLIC RESINS IN THE FORM OF REINFORCED FOAMS
This study has perfected new phenolic foams with improved properties and a continuous method for their manufacture. The most important results are: + obtaining low density foams of around 40 kg.m**-3, in the form of sheets 0,30 m wide by 3 m long + perfecting a manufacturing method using heating by dielectric loss. The main modification in the composition of the new composite material is the use of a new reinforcement (a layer of polyethyleneterephtalate, instead of glass fibre). The production process has permitted continuous blocks of foam to be produced, 30 cm wide and 3 cm thick, with a mass of 40 kg.m**-3. These materials show better resistance to fire and ageing at high temperature when compared with other materials of the same type currently available.
