Abstract

This volume contains the proceedings of the first EC conference on solar heating, held at Amsterdam, April 30th to May 4th, 1984, in appreciation of approximately 10 years of research into the application of solar energy. In 7 sessions, the papers presented were grouped under headings: Performance of solar heating systems; correlation methods and design tools; research and development of passive solar components; important active and passive solar topics; solar collectors and second generation DHW- and SH- systems; solar energy applications in agriculture and industry; solar heat storage, short term and interseasonal storage concepts. During a panel discussion, tasks for the future were highlighted: the demonstration of the reliability and durability of solar heating systems (to start with solar water heaters); the further development of seasonal heat storage; and: accentuation of the cost effectiveness of certain passive solar technologies.
