Abstract

Those neutron diagnostic systems proposed for JET by the group at Harwell (U.K.) are described. These comprise a time-resolved neutron yield monitor (fission counters), a time integrated neutron yield monitor (foil activation), two multicollimator arrays to measure the spatial distribution of the neutron emission, and a variety of high resolution spectrometers to measure the energy distribution of the emitted neutrons. This paper describes those neutron diagnostics which have been proposed for JET by the group at A.E.R.E., Harwell (England). The current status of the individual items varies from approved for installation to merely ideas for discussion. (It should be noted that in addition to the systems described here there are neutron diagnostics for JET proposed by other laboratories).
