ANMERKUNGEN ZUM DERZEITIGEN STAND DER TLD INSTRUMENTIERUNG
Thermoluminescence dosimetry has as its target the measurement of radiation doses by means of luminophors. These are solid materials which after exposure to ionizing radiation emit luminescence light. For this purpose measuring instruments are made use of, the development of which has reached a high technical stand. A number of dosimeter readers are available commercially which basically consist of a heating system, a light- collecting system, an electronic part for light measurement, signal treatment and presentation. Instruments of the last generation utilize laser heating, computer controlled instrument operation, signal processing and video display of the light emission as a function of phosphor temperature (glow curve). Accessory instruments for phosphor cleaning, temperature treatment, manipulation and calibration supplement the instrument programme. The paper describes the instrumentation, gives information with regard to its capabilities and indicates possible improvements and/or further development.
