SUPPRESSION OF SHEAR DAMPING IN DRIFT WAVE TURBULENCE
Numerical simulations of drift wave turbulence in sheared magnetic fields reveal a strong reduction of the effective shear damping, so that finite turbulence levels are maintained under conditions where all modes are linearly damped. A qualitative theory of the effect is presented.
