TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY VI. "INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS" - ADAPTIVE AND EXPLORATORY LEARNING
This discussion deals with one major and two minor points: The major point is the question of "learning systems", especially artificial systems; the two minor points are a formal comparison of computer and brain functions and a discussion of the processes presented by LENAT on "Learning DNA". The following points were treated: the definition of learning, meta-heuristic rules which ought to be applicable to themselves because otherwise a hierarchy would be established without end, evolution, items and relations needing proper representations, the searching rules, brain anatomy and brain functions, formal (and possibly functional) analogies between brain and computer systems, and finally, a catalogue of meta-heuristic rules.
