THE CONTRIBUTION OF REMOTE SENSING TO AGROMETEOROLOGY AND AGRICULTURAL PREDICTION
The 1984 - 1987 Community Research Centre programme "Applications of Remote Sensing" comprises activities relating to agriculture and marine pollution. The agricultural segment consists of studies of disadvantaged zones in the EEC and the development of a method for predicting agricultural production in the Sahel countries. In both cases, the necessary agrometeorological information can be derived from data collected by earth observation satellites. In the realm of crop yield prediction, the introduction of space observations permits considerable improvement to be made to conventional agrometeorological models.
