ANODIC OXIDATION OF SO-2 IN SULPHURIC ACID
1. This report analyses and discusses the results obtained in the following: a) study and development of catalysts anodized by oxidation of SO-2 in solution of H-2SO-4 at 40-50%; b) study and development of catalysts cathodized by production of H-2 in H-2SO-4 at 30-50%; c) study and development of membranes and diaphragms which prevent diffusion of SO-2 from the anode compartment to the cathode compartment; d) limited study of the possibility of using additives to control SO-2 (see c above); e) study of the optimisation of the anode and cathode current carrying structures; f) study of the optimal structure of electrochemical cells. 2. Results of experiments conducted with a laboratory pilot plant to verify process data relative to the design of a 10 Nm**3/h plant. 3. Design of details and construction specifications of a 10 Nm**3/h plant.
