UN EXEMPLE D'APPLICATION DES MESURES DE LA COMPOSITION DES ROCHES A TEMPERATURE ELEVEE: L'EVALUATION DE LA "CHARGE THERMIQUE ADMISSIBLE" EN FORMATIONS GEOLOGIQUES POUR L'EVACUATION DE DECHETS RADIOACTIFS
In the framework of the R & D Programme "Management and Storage of Radioactive waste", contracts with the Commission of the European Communities have studied the effects of heat emission from high level waste on three host formations: granite, clay, salt. Particularly, thermomechanical effect on the stability of repository galleries, and on the continuity of the overburden rock, were described. From these results, the power densities compatible with a correct operation of the disposal system were determined. Of course, these values of "admissible thermal loading" will have to be recalculated for each specific repository project.
