Résumé

This work concerns a focusing collector for the medium temperature range, 100-200 degrees C, in which the focalisation of sun's rays is obtained by changing the shape of the mirror, maintaining the fixed orientation of the casing. For every incidence angle, from -22 to 22 degrees , the mirror (a 0.6 mm silvered glass sheet), is deformed between two fixed points to achieve focalisation. It has been shown theoretically and experimentally that the ideal shape (a parabola) is obtained easily by pushing or pulling on the mirror in only two chosen points. Many tests on an optical bench have confirmed the possibility of obtaining local concentration ratios from 6 to 20, in very good accordance with predicted values. Using complex analytical and computer calculations, a parametric analysis has been performed. A full-scale prototype has been built and tested under indoor conditions, using a solar simulator, and under outdoor conditions using a specially designed medium temperature thermal loop. The values of the optical and thermal parameters are satisfactory, showing a reduced stagnation temperature of .38 under normal incidence and a concentration factor larger than 6 for every incidence angle.
