SHORT REFERENCE YEARS - TEST REFERENCE YEARS
The aim of the project is twofold: To generate Test Reference Years (TRY) for a number of locations in the Community; and: To develop and test methods for generation of short Reference Years (SRY). This report describes the status October 1982. Test Reference Years (Try) for 19 locations on 6 Community member countries have been selected and assembled. For Short reference Years (SRY) four methods for generating SRYs have been developed from existing basic ideas and procedures. These methods have been evaluated, and the best will be used for generation of SRYs for a number of locations within EEC. The evaluation has been done by comparing simulation runs with the different SRYs and with the weather data sets from which the SRYs have been derived for three locations, and for a variety of rooms, orientations, operational strategies, and solar DHW systems. The method proposed by S. Eidorff performed generally best and is chosen on a narrow margin. The SRYs seem to be well suited for heating and cooling loads and less suited for extreme temperatures and solar systems with long storage times. The quality of the generated SRYs varies quite randomly.
