CELL-MEDIATED IMMUNITY. PROCEEDINGS HELD IN TRINITY COLLEGE, DUBLIN (EIR) ON SEPTEMBER 6-8, 1983.
This publication contains the proceedings of a meeting on Cell-mediated Immunity held in Trinity College, Dublin, Sept. 6th-8th, 1983. In the first session: "Effector Mechanisms of Cell-mediated Immunity" papers presented concerned: macrophages; cells of the lymphoid system; lymphokines in immune regulation; swine interleukin 2; pulmonas alveolar macrophages: in claves; the major histocompatibility complex in animals; current status of the BOLA complex; production of monoclonal antibodies detecting MHC alloantigens in cattle; natural killing: some crucial questions. In section II "Cell- mediated Immunity: protective mechanisms in bacterial and parasitic infections", contributions presented focused on: the regulation of phagocyte activites by membrane receptors; mechanisms of intracellular killing by phagocytic leukocytes; factors modulating the natural killing activity in swine; role of cell-mediated immunity against bacterial infections; lymphocyte migration into the mammary gland of pregnant sows; antibody - dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity in cattle; effector mechanisms in intestinal cell-mediated immunity; cell-mediated immunity in parasitic diseases and in coccidiosis; immunological significance of transient cell-mediated immune reactions to dietary antigens, familial influence on polymorphonuclear cell functions in cattle. Section III "Cell mediated immunity: protective mechanisms in viral diseases" contains communications on: cell-mediated responses in pigs and sheep; development of the immune response in virus infections; cell-mediated immunity in viral diseases: effector mechanisms.
