Abstract

MESHJET is a fairly general package and can be used to generate meshes for any finite element code in two space dimensions. It has been developed, as an improvement of the mesh generator RETE with the main objective of generating meshes for the codes IDENTB and INVERS which are widely used at JET. A block diagram illustrating the package and its use is given. In section 2 we briefly illustrate the kind of meshes generated by MESHJET, and how complex regions can be treated. In section 3 we explain the introduction of a routine for bandwidth minimization. Auxiliaries and the interfaces to codes IDENTB and INVERS are presented in section 4. Finally we give a few examples of application of meshes generated by MESHJET, quantifying the degree of uncertainty in results that one should expect as a result of minor mesh variations.
