Abstract

The optical constants around the electron cyclotron frequency and its harmonics are evaluated analytically for propagation perpendicular to the equilibrium magnetic field and for an electron distribution that accounts for a loss cone as well as a temperature anisotropy. The effects of the loss cone, in particular with respect to the deviations from the results for an isotropic Maxwellian, are analyzed numerically.
