KONZEPTE ZUR MINIMIERUNG DER AKTIVIERUNG DES BIOLOGISCHEN SCHILDS
The investigations carried out here are concerned with the influences of parameters of building design and construction showing dosage reducing effects on the decommissioning of the structures surrounding the reactor pressure vessel (RPV). The investigations aim at reducing activated materials in the biological shields of light- water reactors (LWR), in this particular case: of a 1300 MWe pressurized water reactor (PWR). The results obtained show that it is possible to apply selective materials for well aimed reduction of the formation of radionuclides in the construction of the biological shield area. Moreover, the amount of materials to be dismantled can be minimized by structures designed to be easily dismantled. The activated material can be reduced considerably by a multilayer design if a boron carbide layer is placed before the concrete.
