ANALYSIS OF THE PLASMA EDGE RADIATION BY ICRH ANTENNA
This paper discusses the main mechanism of edge radiation : 1) coaxial modes propagating in the vacuum layer between the plasma and the metal wall 2) surface waves in the outer plasma gradient. The effect of the geometrical parameters of the antenna on these two forms of radiation is analyzed for both the conventional strip line antenna and the slot antenna. First, the conventional antenna model and basic equation is discussed: Fourier analysis for a semi-infinite space and singularities of the power spectra, and: Fourier analysis of a toroidally and poloidally periodic space. This is followed by discussions: of the coaxial modes in the presence of plasma; of surface waves; and of excitation of coaxial modes through an opening in the wall (slot antenna). A discussion on: "How to prevent plasma edge radiation?" concludes the paper.
