Abstract

We present first ray tracing computations based on typical ASDEX plasma parameters. The planned ICRF experiment on ASDEX, for which, in the frequency range 30 to 115 MHz, up to 3 MW of r.f. power and pulse lengths up to 10 sec will be available, starts in late summer 1984. It is shown that the heating efficiency is already appreciable for ohmically heated discharges, and increases strongly with electron density and plasma temperature, reaching more than 40% single transit absorption at T-io = 3 keV, T-eo = 1.5 keV, n-eo = 5.10**13cm**-3.
