Abstract

A means of using ICRF waves to increase the magnitude of the current arising from Neutral Beam Injection has recently been suggested by Okano et al. Results of their simple test particle theory indicate that the efficiency of the scheme is slightly greater than that of pure beam current drive. In the present paper we reconsider this scheme using a more realistic theory based on a 2-D Fokker-Planck equation which includes physical effects previously ignored.
