Abstract

The authors have theoretically investigated line competition effects in optically pumped systems. Specifically four level systems of the V-A type (e.g. FIR laser with refill transition were studied. The simplicity of the HF molecule has allowed a quantitative comparison with the observed spectral fine structure.
