Abstract

The coefficient of electron cyclotron absorption and emission is evaluated for i) a two-component distribution comprising a small superthermal population in motion relative to a Maxwellian bulk; ii) a relativistic loss- cone distribution, and iii) a relativistic two-dimensional and one-dimensional Maxwellian distribution. Analytical expressions are obtained together with quantitative evaluations by numerical analysis.
