Abstract

The present work outlines the operating methods of the Working Group Codes and Standards of the Fast Reactor Coordinating Committee set up by the Commission of the European Communities. The Group seeks to promote a cooperative effort to compare and analyse data relevant to manufacturing standards, structural analysis and material properties for the LMFBR projects under development in the Member States. The paper illustrates the most significant results obtained up to now in assessing time-dependent effects on the structural integrity of LMFBR components. This work has provided a sound technical basis for an improvement of analytical tools and for a better use of material data relevant to both wrought and weld metals, in the creep range and under cyclic loading. Development work on constitutive modelling and rationalisation of material data has been defined with the aim of avoiding unjustified and expensive conservatism in the design and manufacture of LMFBR components.
