Abstract

The electron temperature on JET is measured routinely using two independent diagnostics: a single point Thomson scattering system and a spatial scan electron cyclotron emission (ECE) system. In addition, some measurements of the electron temperature have been made with a preliminary soft x-ray pulse height analysis (PHA) system. In this paper these three diagnostics are described. Results obtained with the diagnostics are presented and compared, and some examples of the use of the measurements in the study of plasma physics phenomena on JET are given.
